Intramurals

The Physical Education Department runs a series of intramural programs throughout the year, including volleyball, basketball, and Ultimate Frisbee. All Intramurals are co-ed. Each student who participates earns a team t-shirt to go with his or her hours of enjoyment in and out of the gym.

For more information on our Intramurals Programs, please contact our Evening Program Director Joe Iannotti at jiannott@sarahlawrence.edu.

New Faces Show They’ve Got Game at Basketball Intramurals

September/October 2011

The basketball courts at the Campbell Sports Center exploded with color this September and October as basketball intramurals got underway and the bold-hued intramural t-shirts were worn with Gryphon pride. The tournament attracted a lot of new faces to the intramural family as each player brought his or her A-game to the court, donning a yellow, gray, burgundy. powder blue or orange tee. Participants got to take home their shirts in the end as well as a month’s worth of game-time and the good friendships they made.

Over twenty students were broken up into the five teams that participated in this round-robin format. The teams were competitive, but friendly, allowing everyone a fair amount of play-time on the court and a good amount of camaraderie off of it.

The final night culminated in a play-off that saw the gray team winning in the end. Although the grey team was the team with the best record, everyone was a winner who participated in this action-packed, tournament-style intramural.

Thanks to all those who participated in basketball intramurals. The next intramurals will be Ultimate Frisbee, coming soon.
